“Passion” is on it’s way to find a distributor according to THR. The movie will have it’s US premiere this saturday (September 29) as part of the New York Film Festival line-up. It’s not likely that Rachel will attend the screening because she is currently filming “A Most Wanted Man” in Hamburg (Germany).
IFC Films is in negotiations to acquire domestic distribution rights for the Brian De Palma-directed thriller Passion.
The film, a remake of Alain Corneau’s 2010 French noir Love Crime, features Noomi Rapace and Rachel McAdams at the center of of a steamy tale that chronicles professional and romantic jealousies at a Berlin ad agency.
Passion, which De Palma adapted from Corneau and Nathalie Carter’s French-language screenplay, made its debut to buyers at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month on the heels of its premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The film, which has already lined up distribution deals in France, Germany and the Netherlands, will next screen at the New York Film Festival.
IFC enjoyed a busy Toronto festival, scooping up domestic rights to a number of films including the black-and-white comedy Frances Ha and Mira Nair’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist.
Saïd Ben Saïd produced Passion, and Alfred Hürmer and Valérie Boyer exec produced.
ICM Partners, which reps De Palma, is negotiating the deal on behald of the filmmakers.
