THR is reporting that Rachel joined James Franco, Robert Naylor, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Marie-Josee Croze in the Wim Wenders’ directed 3D movie “Every Thing Will Be Fine”.
Charlotte Gainsbourg and Robert Naylor are also co-starring in the Wim Wenders drama, now shooting in Montreal.
Rachel McAdams has joined the cast of Wim Wenders’ drama Every Thing Will Be Fine.
James Franco is starring in the film as a man responsible for the death of a young boy who channels his guilt into a successful writing career. As he gets more famous, however, he represses and rejects the emotional connection he has to the boy’s brother and mother in the years after the accident.
Charlotte Gainsbourg is playing the boy’s mother while Robert Naylor is playing the brother, who ten years after the accident reaches out to the man who killed his sibling.
McAdams will play Franco’s girlfriend, who has to deal with his deteriorating mental health. Sarah Polley was initially slated to play the part but a deal never took.
The movie began shooting in Montreal last week.
McAdams next stars in About Time, the latest movie from Richard Curtis, the writer of Notting Hill and Love Actually. She is repped by Magnolia Entertainment.
Le Journal De Montréal reported last week that the Montreal shoot will continue until September 18 and will resume next year from January 13 to 24. IndieWire reported last week that the principal photography started in Montreal. You can read their report with more details inside/after the jump.
Gian-Piero Ringel, who produced “Pina,” will again produce. Cinematographer Benoit Debie, known for his collaborations with director Gaspar Noe (“Irreversible,” “Enter the Void”), is the director of photography.
Here’s the official synopsis: EVERY THING WILL BE FINE, based on an original script by the Norwegian Bjørn Olaf Johannessen, tells the story of Tomas (James Franco), a writer who loses control of his life after a car accident. Even though he is not directly at fault, his relationship with his girlfriend breaks down because of this event and his life and work suddenly set off in a completely new direction. The film follows Tomas over a period of 12 years and tells an intimate story of guilt and the search for forgiveness.
The film will be released in Germany and Canada in 2014, via Warner Bros. and Mongrel Media, respectively; no word yet on a stateside release.
Rachel and James are both set to voice a character in the upcoming 3D animation movie “The Little Prince”.
