Rachel still Frontrunner for “True Detective” Lead?

HBO confirmed the casting of Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn in the much anticipated second season of “True Detective” earlier today. Rachel was mentioned for being in the running for the female lead, as we previously reported. There have been many rumors and reports about the casting including a recent one of 7 other actresses vying for a role in the series.

The Wrap is now reporting that Rachel is still “frontrunner” alongside Taylor Kitsch to join season 2 while Deadline is reporting that Rachel “continues to be mentioned”. Both sources mention a possible scheduling conflict for Rachel because she is doing a movie (and we assume they are referring to “Spotlight” which will reportedly start filming this week). The Wrap reporter Jeff Sneider is reporting the following on his official twitter account:

There will be several women in the show. This is the first of several announcements. Vaughn’s wife will be a significant character on the show & the actresses auditioning for the female lead (a cop) could segue to that role. HBO has always wanted a big star for the female lead. If Rachel McAdams wants to do it, she will, but there is a scheduling conflict. It looks like Keira’s next on the list, but she’s not being asked to read like the other 7 women who went in. 8 if you count Abigail Spencer

Let’s hope HBO will confirm the additional casting, including who will be the female lead, soon!

  1. I would like to add that there are a lot of rumors going around this project because it’s so anticipated. I just wanted to make an overview for everyone about the current status of Rachel’s involvement.

  2. It would be wonderful to see Rachel into a series of thematic and so different ! Follow a bit of ” The most wanted man” . Hoping everything right!
