As we previously reported “Spotlight” will be released on November 6, 2015 in the U.S. The distributor Open Road Films has now also announced the entire release schedule. Variety is reporting the following story:
Open Road has given an awards-season launch date to the Michael Keaton journalism drama “Spotlight” with a Nov. 6 opening. “Spotlight” will expand on Nov. 13 and go wide on Nov. 20. Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber and Stanley Tucci also star in the story of the Boston Globe’s Spotlight investigation team, which reported the Boston Archdiocese’s cover-up of sexual abuse within the Catholic church.
Screendaily notes that the slot is prime awards season territory and comes four days after the start of the AFI FEST in Los Angeles, which must rank as a contender for the film’s world premiere launch pad. The movie has also been linked as a contender for opening film of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. No confirmation has been made so far.
