Umberto Gonzalez from Heroic Hollywood is reporting that Rachel has been offered the female lead in Marvel’s upcoming “Doctor Strange” movie. Comic Book is speculating Rachel is most likely offered the part of Clea.
Just in time for Comic Con. Some Marvel news to drop before the con gets going.
According to my sourcing here in Los Angeles, the rumor I’m hearing is that Rachel McAdams, currently starring in the second season of True Detective, has been offered the female lead in Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange. Scott Derrickson is directing the film based on the screenplay by Jon Sphaits. Benedict Cumberbatch is headlining as the Sorcerer Supreme.
Stay tuned as more develops and I will update the story as I find out more.
Before he met the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange was an unlikeable egotistical neurosurgeon. Everything changes when a car accident limits Strange’s use of his hands, sending him on a maddening quest for a miracle cure. This origin story introduces the magical and mystical realms of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Doctor Strange is scheduled to be released in theaters next year on November 4, 2016.
Keep in mind it’s just a rumor but we hope we might get some confirmation soon. Some fun facts: This is not the first time Rachel has been reportedly offered a lead part in a Marvel movie. She was reportedly Jon Favreau first choice for Pepper Potts in 2008’s Iron Man. Another fun fact: The “Doctor Strange” script is written by Jon Sphaits, who also wrote “Passengers” – A movie Rachel was attached to last year before she dropped out.
I find it hard this rumor materializes. Rachel usually does not participate in films of this magnitude. but maybe she has other plans right now. I’m happy with any good project she wants to participate, so if she thinks it’s good for her, I’ll be happy for her too!
