2016 A Look Ahead

First of all: Happy New Year everyone! Last year we gave you a look ahead of 2015 and today we will look at what we can expect in 2016. We thought it might be fun to try and make this into an annual post as well, just like our year in review post.

The Little Prince (Paramount)

Director: Mark Osborne | Writer: Irena Brignull, Bob Persichetti, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (Novel) | With: Mackenzie Foy, Jeff Bridges, Riley Osborne, Marion Cotillard, James Franco, Benicio Del Toro, Paul Giamatti, Ricky Gervais, Albert Brooks, Paul Rudd, Bud Cort.
Plot: The first ever animated feature film adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s iconic masterpiece, The Little Prince.
Current status: The movie is completed and already premiered last year at the Cannes Film Festival. The movie was released in theaters many Asian, South American and European countries last year but the release of the English version to pushed back by Paramount to 2016.

  • Doctor Strange (Marvel)

    Director: Scott Derrickson | Writer: Jon Spaihts, Joshua Oppenheimer, Thomas Dean Donnelly, C. Robert Cargill & Steve Ditko (comic books) | With: Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton.
    Plot: It follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.
    Current status: The movie is currently filming and will wrap up in March. EW reveals more details about the movie in their current issue (January 8, 2016). The name of Rachel’s character is yet to be revealed, but EW revealed she will play “a fellow surgeon” to Doctor Strange.
    Release: October 28, 2016 (UK) | November 4, 2016 (US)

  • Award Season 2015-2016 for Spotlight (Open Road Films)

    Spotlight” was released last year in the United States and will have it’s theatrical release in the United Kingdom on January 29, 2016. The movie has received critical acclaim since it’s fall film festival release. It was selected for many festivals, including the Venice, Toronto and Telluride film festival. Here’s an overview of all the accolades thus far for the movie, with the focus on Rachel’s achievements. Fingers crossed Rachel is able to attend the upcoming award ceremonies!

  • To summarize: Rachel is currently filming “Doctor Strange“, which will wrap up in March and is expected to be released on November 4. “The Little Prince” will hit theaters on March 18. Meanwhile “Spotlight” is making it’s award season rounds and we hope Rachel is able to attend the award ceremonies.

    We would also like to remind everyone that “Aloha” and “Southpaw” are currently available on DVD/Blu-Ray/On Demand while “Every Thing Will Be Fine” and “True Detective” are available On Demand. “Spotlight” is still playing in selected theaters.
