Latest “Spotlight” News Round-Up

First of all, Rachel received a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 2015 North Carolina Film Critics Association Awards alongside Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rooney Mara, Helen Mirren and Alicia Vikander won for her work in Ex-Machina. Rachel also received a Best Supporting Actress nomination from the Central Ohio Film Critics Association alongside Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rooney Mara, Alicia Vikander and Kate Winslet. Additionally, Rachel also received a nomination from the Denver Film Critics Society for Best Supporting Actress alongside Alicia Vikander, Kate Winslet, Elizabeth Banks and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Additionally, “Spotlight” received 3 BAFTA nominations earlier this week. The movie received nominations in the Best Film, Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor (Mark Ruffalo). The producers of the movie also received a nomination at the Producers Guild Awards.

Secondly, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation will host a “Spotlight” screening followed by a Q&A with Rachel and her co-stars Mark Ruffalo and Liev Schreiber on Monday (January 11) as part of their the Conversations series. Rachel received two nominations (Best Supporting Actress and Best Ensemble) for the upcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards last month for her work in the movie. Rachel also received individual buzz for her performance. The Oscar nomination poll closed on Friday (January 8) and the nominations will be announced next week, on January 14.

Finally, the Golden Globes Awards are today and The Wrap is reporting that Rachel is expected to attend and she will bring her “Spotlight” counterpart Sacha Pfeiffer as her date.
