According to several reports filming for “Disobedience” has wrapped. Screen Daily is reporting that director Sebastián Lelio flew to Berlin to attend the 67th Berlinale International Film Festival yesterday after wrapping up production on “Disobedience“. Last weekend the cast and crew attended a wrap party for the movie in London and according to a local report by the German newspaper Morning Post the director was expected to fly to New York last Sunday to continue production on the movie. Before the New York shoot, the cast and crew mainly filmed in (North) London, including in the Cricklewood area. Furthermore, local reports were also reporting Rachel visited the Hasmonean School to do research for her role. As we reported on twitter earlier this week the director of photography/cinematographer is Danny Cohen (The King’s Speech, Room, The Danish Girl). While an official release date has not yet been announced, Cohen’s agency is reporting a 2017 release for the movie. Furthermore, IMDB is also reporting the 2017 release date and recently added several (supporting) cast members to the cast list.
The movie is based on Naomi Alderman’s best selling novel with the same title and her father, who is also a consultant of the movie and has a small role, wrote an article on the movie for a local newspaper which you can find after the jump. He is praising both Rachel and her co-star Rachel Weisz: “Ronit is played by the incomparable Rachel Weisz and her lover Esti by the equally unrivalled Rachel McAdams”. He also confirms Rachel is wearing a sheitel (wig worn by married Jewish women) for her role.
