“Disobedience” Gets April 2018 Release (US)

Bleecker Street announced their upcoming schedule for their 2018 slate and “Disobedience” is among them. The movie will be released on April 27, 2018 in the United States. It was announced before that the movie will be released on May 4, 2018 in the UK.

Bleecker Street has announced release dates for their first five titles for 2018. Following two acquisitions out of the Toronto International Film Festival, Sebastián Lelio’s Disobedience and Dominic Cooke’s On Chesil Beach, Bleecker Street has also dated Mark Pellington’s new drama Nostalgia (following up the 2017 Shirley MacLaine starrer, The Last Word) and has partnered with Shivani Rawat’s ShivHans Pictures on Brad Anderson’s political thriller Beirut (formerly titled High Wire Act). The company will also release writer/director Elizabeth Chomko’s debut feature, What They Had, in 2018.

From a screenplay by Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, the film follows a woman as she returns from New York after the death of her estranged rabbi father to the Orthodox Jewish community in North London where she grew up. Once back at home, she stirs up controversy when she shows an interest in a childhood friend. The film stars Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams and Alessandro Nivola.
