Exclusive: Rachel McAdams Will Be Clea Strange In The Marvel Multiverse

“Giant Feakin Robot” recently revealed some exciting news regarding Rachel’s future within the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Read on below for more information. Despite the information that she’s rumored to be portraying Clea Strange, everything else is just speculation at this point, so there’s no actual spoilers in the article.

It looks like the Marvel Cinematic Universe is adding another cool character to their ranks. With the Multiverse being built out, branches shooting off like tentacles from the Sacred Timeline, we are getting all new characters added to the mix. Some will be different versions of existing folks while others are brand new additions. Giant Freakin Robot now has the exclusive from a trusted and proven source that Rachel McAdams is going to have the role of Clea Strange the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse.

This is an interesting set of news considering what we know about Rachel McAdams and her upcoming role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. She is credited with the character of Dr. Christina Palmer, a surgeon who enters into a relationship with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. That is all well and good, but this scoop has it that McAdams will play Clea Strange in another universe. That could mean a couple of things. On the one hand, it could mean her character of Palmer is there in disguise, having become interested in Strange from afar (inter-dimensionally), and is using the Palmer cover to get closer to him. Or, it could mean that in Stephen’s galavanting through the Multiverse, he runs into another version of McAdams who is Clea Strange, his now-wife.

This, again, will be part of the Multiverse being proliferated throughout future storylines. It is unclear if this version of Rachel McAdams as Clea will already be aware of and know Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, or if the story will deal with how they first meet each other. There are a few ways to take this kind of thing considering the mechanisms and devices the MCU now has at their fingertips.

Rachel McAdams playing Clea Strange is an interesting way to go with a character who gets the last name following her inter-dimensional marriage to the good doctor. The character of Clea is a Faltine, an energy being related to Dormammu who Doctor Strange fought off in the first movie. When Strange casts Dormammu back to the Dark Dimension, this could be where Clea begins to work into things. That is her realm and where, in the comic book pages, she and Strange meet for the first time. It stands to reason that either in Spider-Man: No Way Home or more likely, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we see a character pitstop in this place and that is where we first meet Rachel McAdams as Clea.

For Rachel McAdams, we could see her become one of the stronger beings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At times, Clea Strange has had powers that eclipse Stephens and though they are on the same side, she has significantly more in her bag than the good Doctor. It could make for a very interesting interplay especially considering Cumberbatch’s arrogant take on the character throughout his first few appearances. From early looks at Spider-Man: No Way Home, he continues to imbue a significant level of hubris.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to hit the big screen on March 25, 2022. It is then that we could first see Rachel McAdams as Clea Strange. She is also working on a live-action adaptation of the bestselling novel Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.

Rachel advocates for Old Growth Forests

Rachel advocates for Old Growth Forests

Rachel has joined Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, her “Spotlight” co-star MarkRuffalo and David Suzuki to call on the B.C. government to stop logging the last old growth forests across the province. Old growth forests, home to tall, ancient trees, are still being commercially logged. Now, less than 1% of forests in B.C. are home to stands of large, old trees. You can sign the petition mentioned in the article below here.

Dailyhive | Rachel McAdams is the latest celebrity urging the protection of old growth forests in a recent viral video campaign from the grassroots environmental organization Stand.Earth.

She joins other prominent figures and scientists, like broadcaster and environmental activist David Suzuki, Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, author Margaret Atwood, and former Hollywood co-star Mark Ruffalo.

The YouTube campaign is called “The World is Watching,” and Stand.Earth highlights that some of the old growth forests at risk are over 1,000 years old.

The 30-second video features various voices highlighting the importance of old growth forests, as well as the lack of action and broken promises from Premier John Horgan.

On top of the logging threat facing old growth forests, BC forests at large are currently facing a major risk of wildfires due to extremely dry and hot weather over the last week.

After fires ravaged much of Lytton, the region of Kamloops, BC, experienced its own evacuation order, but fire crews had that fire under control as of late Friday morning, and people are able to return home.

Stand.Earth is asking people to sign a petition urging the BC government to take action. At the time of writing, the petition has nearly 150,000 signatures.

The actor and his wife, Kelsey, are being honored as part of this year’s fifth annual Freeze HD event, which raises money and awareness for the fight against Huntington’s disease.

Rachel in talks for ‘Eurovision’

Deadline is reporting that Rachel is in talks for “Eurovision” which would reunite her with “Wedding Crashers” director David Dobkin and co-star Will Ferrell.
Rachel McAdams is in talks with Netflix to star in Eurovision, which means a re-team with her Wedding Crashers director David Dobkin and co-star Will Ferrell.

The comedy is set around the The Eurovision Song Contest, the longest-running annual international TV song competition. The contest is famous around the world with former winners including ABBA (won in 1974 for Sweden) and Celine Dion (won in 1988 for Switzerland) who went on to have iconic careers. The contest started in 1956 with seven West European nations participating. The 63rd edition of the competition had 43 countries competing for top prize. At the finale in Lisbon last year, Israel was named the winner with the song “Toy,“ performed by Netta.

Ferrell wrote the script with Andrew Steele, and he is producing with Jessica Elbaum and Chris Henchy from Gary Sanchez. Adam McKay is exec producing.

The Oscar-nominated McAdams’ recent credits include Best Picture winner Spotlight, Disobedience and Game Night. She’s repped by Magnolia Entertainment, WME, and attorney Howard Fishman.
This news brings us back to a quote from director Dobkin during the promotion of “Wedding Crashers“. When asked about Rachel back in 2005 he said the following: “She [Rachel] hates being compared, but I often said to her, ‘You can be Meryl Streep. You can be Sigourney Weaver or Julia Roberts. I believe she can make almost anything that you ask her to do“.

Rachel ‘likely’ to return for “Doctor Strange” sequel

Rachel ‘likely’ to return for “Doctor Strange” sequel

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Scott Derrickson is set to return for the sequel of “Doctor Strange“. Rachel’s costars Benedict Cumberbatch and Benedict Wong will return as well with Rachel “likely to return as well”. Variety is also reporting the return of Derrickson with Cumerbatch, Wong and Rachel “expected to reprise” their roles.

Scott Derrickson, who directed and co-wrote the mystical Marvel hero’s initial 2016 outing, has quietly finalized a deal to helm the new installment.

A search for a writer to pen the script is about to get underway.

Benedict Cumberbatch will return as Stephen Strange, the good doctor turned master of the mystic arts, as will Benedict Wong, who played his right-hand man, Wong. Rachel McAdams, who played Stephen Strange’s love interest, is likely to return as well.

Strange was last seen de-materializing in the $2 billion-grossing Avenger: Infinity War, where one of his lines of dialogue served as the inspiration for the title of the fourth Avengers movie, Avengers: Endgame.

Marvel has been tight-lipped about its plans for life after Endgame, which it is calling Phase Four. After all, how much can there be when half your heroes are supposed to be dead?

In any case, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the plan is for the script to be hashed out in 2019 with an eye toward a spring 2020 production start. If all goes well, the movie would be casting its spell on audiences in May 2021.

Marvel had no comment.
