As trees grow, they help stop global warming by removing carbon dioxide, storing carbon, and releasing oxygen. Over the course of 50 years, a single tree can generate $31,250 worth of air pollution control, recycle $37,500 worth of water, and control $31,500 worth of soil erosion. Matter of Trust Hair Boom
Rachel took part of Matter of Trust Hair boom after the massive oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. She collected hair for the project.
Matter of Trust, an environmental nonprofit, was leading the effort to collect hair from dog groomers and salons across the nation.
The suggestion was submitted as an alternative method for containing the oil spill, but it was not feasible, according to the command center for the spill.

V-Day
In 2006 Rachel participated in V-Day’s annual The Vagina Monologues performances in Toronto. V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. Proceeds of the performance in Toronto went to Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter, a place for abused women and children to seek refuge, and Japanese Comfort Women, which supports women who were sex slaves during the Second World War.
